Tokyo Meeting for Export Hay to Japan

ACX and other members of the National Hay Association Export Processors Committee (EPC) met with JFTA, ZFTA, and MAFF to discuss guidelines for preventing contamination of feed products with toxic substances. MAFF, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries conducted the meeting and covered an outline of procedures to be followed in the event of a feed incident.

ACX Pacific Northwest, one of the charter members of the EPC, supports safe hay import to Japan and supports helping Japanese importers in compliance matters through a multitude of electronic methods.

The EPC meeting concluded with information on weight restrictions for 40 foot containers of forage export products on the Japanese highway system. Essentially, 40 foot containers of roughage require a 3 axle tractor, and axle weight will eventually be limited to 10 tons.

ACX and the EPC is expected to convene in the United States in about two weeks.

  1. Nicky I do more good business with you and not other supplier this year. Very nice see you.

  2. What is the EPC, and how does it support farmer’s since it is a part of the National Hay Association? Thanks

  3. The National Hay Association website states the EPC includes NHA members who export forages to other countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, etc. Further, the EPC promotes safe feed.

Considering the huge volume of U.S. produced roughage that is exported to other countries, ACX is helping farmers in both the United States and the countries to which its products are exported by ensuring hay products are safe and various regulations are adhered to.

ACX is one of the founding members of the EPC and works to support U.S. farmers by purchasing high quality forage products; thus, the reason for our “You Grow – We Buy!” campaign. Further, ACX does not seek to buy farms, we seek to help farmers keep their farms by purchasing their crops.

ACX then works to support foreign farmers by delivering value-added roughage abroad. ACX seeks to provide consistent quality at reasonable prices to support strong foreign dairy markets.

The ACX affiliation with the EPC helps our customers trust the quality of ACX products and reflects on the hard work of the American farmer.
